The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the kidnapped woman and her child have returned to their family, after disappearing on May 17 near the Hmeimim Bridge in Latakia province, during a visit to her mother who had suffered a stroke.

According to sources, the kidnapped woman, Hala Nours Ibrahim, and her child, Ali Khuzami, were taken to the hospital for treatment after showing signs of severe physical torture. This coincided with the beginning of an investigation by security agencies affiliated with the Damascus authorities, following the leak of shocking photos showing her dire condition during the period of her abduction.

According to the Observatory, Hala and her child were subjected to humiliation and assault. Hala belongs to the Alawite sect, while her husband has been detained for three months in Damascus authority prisons for reasons that remain unknown.

In a related context, the Observatory noted that a sports coach remains missing since his abduction on May 24 by unknown armed men. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 40,000 U.S. dollars in exchange for his release. Unconfirmed reports suggest that he has been subjected to torture, prompting his family to issue urgent humanitarian appeals calling for information about his fate and an end to his suffering.
