The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), in its statement on its twelfth congress held in response to the Leader Abdullah Ocalan's call, announced the martyrdom of two of the party’s prominent and founding cadres, Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Alton, last Monday. In this context, the Martyrs’ Families Councils of Tabqa and, Afrin, and Shahba Cantons issued a statement at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the city of Tabqa, in the presence of the Canton's residents, displaced people from Afrin and Shahba, representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and its affiliated bodies and councils, the Future Syria Party Council, and the Women’s Assembly of Zenobia.

The statement touched on the journey of martyr Ali Haydar Kaytan, a comrade of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who devoted his life from the very first moment to the thought and philosophy of the leader until he was martyred. It emphasized that he “was a role model and source of inspiration for fighters on the paths of struggle.”

The statement added that “Martyr Riza Alton was one of the resistors of the infamous Amed prison and a rock of steadfastness against the brutal repression methods in the Turkish occupation’s prisons,” affirming that “his strong will was proof that freedom can only be achieved through resistance.”

The statement stressed, “We pledge to our martyrs to follow their path toward building a democratic society characterized by love and peace, according to the approach, thought, and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

In this regard, the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement and the Young Women’s Union organized a commemoration event for the leaders Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Alton in the meeting hall of the Syrian Democratic Council in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo.

Photos of the martyrs Riza Alton and Ali Haydar Kaytan, as well as Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and flags of the Young Women’s Union and the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement were displayed in the hall.

The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, followed by a slideshow about the resistance, struggle, and historic revolutionary efforts of the two martyrs within the Kurdistan Workers’ Party across the four parts of Kurdistan and in exile.

The event ended with chants of “Martyrs are immortal,” and “No life without the Leader.”
