Eid begins with visits to shrines of martyrs in North and East Syria
On the morning of Eid al-Adha, the people of North and East Syria renewed their pledge to the region’s martyrs and their families, affirming their commitment to continuing the struggle and sacrifices to secure their rights in a future Syria. This was reflected in an atmosphere of unity and love, reflected in the shrines where thousands gathered to remember their martyrs.
Since the early hours of the morning, residents of NE Syria have been heading to the shrines of the martyrs to visit their graves.
The shrines of Martyr Khabat Dirik in Derik, Martyr Dilshir in Tirbespiye, Martyr Dalil Sarukhan in Qamishlo, Martyr Ismail in Amuda, Martyr Dijwar in Hasaka, Martyr Rustam Judi in Darbasiyah, Martyr Dijla in Kobani, and the shrines of the martyrs in Tal Tamr, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Shaddadi, Tabqa, and Aleppo, spread across NE Syria, have witnessed crowds of visitors.
The arrivals were welcomed at the shrines by councils of the families of the martyrs, members of the Internal Security Forces, and fighters from various military formations, amid extensive security measures taken by the security forces, which have been on high alert for about a week.
Alongside the martyrs’ families, members and officials of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in each Canton of the region, accompanied by representatives and members of women’s and youth organizations, military comrades-in-arms from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and members of the Internal Security Forces, commemorated the region’s martyrs.
The families and relatives of the martyrs laid wreaths of flowers on the graves of their sons and daughters, exchanged congratulations, alongside the distribution of sweets, lighting incense, reciting Quranic verses, and praying for Syria.
The families also exchanged words expressing their appreciation for the sacrifices of the martyrs, emphasizing unity and solidarity, and the continuation of the struggle to preserve the legacy of the martyrs, amidst an atmosphere filled with love and Eid blessings.
There was also a strong affirmation of full support at the current stage for their representatives in the ongoing negotiations and dialogue with the Damascus authority, to ensure the rights of the components of NE Syria in the future Syrian constitution, and to participate in building the country and advancing it anew.
Visiting the graves on the morning of Eid is a well-established tradition among the people of NE Syria, dating back to the start of the revolution on July 19, 2012.
