Iraqi Initiative announces solidarity with "I want to meet Abdullah Ocalan" Campaign
The Iraqi Initiative for the Freedom of Ocalan affirmed its full solidarity with the "I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan" campaign. In a statement, the Initiative stated, "What was launched by the European Peace and Freedom Platform and many parties from the European Left and progressive internationalists is nothing but a message to us aiming to work under the umbrella of peace."

The Iraqi Initiative began its statement by stating:
"The peace initiative launched by Leader Ocalan on February 27, 2025, expresses the realistic and logical will of Leader Ocalan's thought, which established the meaning of freedom and the principle of peace as a basis for preserving world peace and creating a region in the Middle East." A Middle East free from war, destruction, and extremist ideology. This initiative and the call for "Peace and a Democratic Society" expressed the principles of humanity, free thought, and a democratic society. This confirms that political action is not the property of a particular society, nationality, party, or any other ideology. Rather, it is a thought and approach that symbolizes democracy, freedom, and peace.
She continued: "Because Leader Ocalan, before his national and political affiliation, belongs to a noble and advanced human system that established a new concept in international conflicts. He worked to find solutions to the issues of people and societies through building a democratic society, far removed from the classical methods that a group of countries are trying to impose by force of arms.
This also applies to Turkey and its inhumane political approach, which relies on militarizing society to resolve all conflicts and adheres to the Ottoman mentality that has produced nothing but destruction and war. Insisting on occupying other people's lands by force of arms is a bloody, repressive, and police-based approach that must be avoided to resolve the outstanding problems in the region and to heed the call for peace issued by Leader Ocalan.
Regarding the "I Want to Meet Leader Ocalan" campaign, the Iraqi Initiative stated: "What was launched by the European Peace and Freedom Platform and many parties from the European left and progressive internationalists is nothing but a message to us as well, in the Iraqi Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom, with the aim of working under the banner of peace and pressuring the political administration in Turkey to adhere to international conventions and work for the release of Leader Ocalan."
It added, "The solidarity of many civil society organizations, trade unions, political parties, and organizations concerned with human rights and the principle of freedom of opinion and other opinions expresses our true calling for Ocalan's freedom."
The Iraqi Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom affirmed its solidarity with the campaign and concluded: "We, in the Iraqi Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom, affirm our absolute solidarity with the 'I Want to Meet Leader Ocalan' campaign, which has received significant support from organizations." Civil society, labor unions, journalists, artists, visual artists, and women's organizations.
This is what we want to emphasize: the Iraqi Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom is part of the larger struggle in solidarity with the European Peace and Freedom Initiative. This great humanitarian effort represents the identity of a civilized society to liberate Ocalan from his prison cell in Imrali and the beginning of a new journey to build a democratic society.
